Cabinet Refinishing in Winter Park, FL
Honoring Winter Park’s Character, One Cabinet at a Time
Winter Park is one of Central Florida’s most storied communities. With tree-lined brick streets, historic estates along the chain of lakes, and a long tradition of craftsmanship and architectural detail, Winter Park homes carry a character that newer construction simply can’t replicate. Many of those homes contain original solid wood cabinetry that has been painted over, stained, or neglected for decades — beautiful bones waiting to be uncovered. At Resurrect Wood Refinishing, we specialize in bringing that craftsmanship back to life, with cabinet refinishing services tailored to the unique character of Winter Park homes.
One of our favorite recent projects came from a young couple in a historic home on the edge of Winter Park. They had been uncovering original walnut wood throughout the house during their renovation — in the floors, the trim, the built-ins — and wanted to bring that same warmth into the kitchen, which still had its original laminate cabinet doors. The laminate on the drawer fronts had started peeling, but the cabinet boxes themselves were structurally solid. Full replacement wasn’t necessary. What they needed was a creative solution that honored both the history of the home and the direction they were taking the rest of the interior.
We proposed our Re-Door service with a twist. The upper cabinets received new solid wood doors finished in Kensington and Clark Swiss Coffee — a warm, creamy white that complemented the home’s light and airy aesthetic. The lowers, pantry, and side panels were fitted with new solid walnut doors and panels, bringing the natural wood the couple had been restoring throughout the house directly into the kitchen. Because the face frames of the lower boxes were still laminate and couldn’t be stripped to raw wood, we applied our faux grain glaze technique to seamlessly blend them with the new walnut doors. The result was cohesive and intentional — as if the kitchen had always been this way.
The door profiles were deliberately different between the uppers and lowers — a blend of traditional and modern that matched the couple’s design direction for the rest of the home. It was a decision that required trust, and they gave it to us completely. The wife was open and collaborative throughout the process. Her husband, a capable DIYer who rarely hands a project off to someone else, signed off on our approach — which, for anyone who has ever worked with a hands-on homeowner, is one of the best endorsements we could ask for.

Restore, Refresh, or Reimagine Your Cabinets
Whether your goal is to honor the history of your home or give it an entirely fresh identity, Resurrect Wood Refinishing has the expertise to make it happen. We work with homeowners throughout Winter Park to deliver results that are as individual as the homes themselves.
Refinish to Original Wood Winter Park’s older homes were often built with high-quality hardwoods that have been hidden under layers of paint or outdated stain for years. Our restore-to-original-wood service carefully strips those surfaces back to bare wood, repairs any damage, and reveals the natural grain underneath. Paired with a modern stain refresh, the result is a kitchen that respects the history of your home while feeling completely current.
Stain Refresh If your wood cabinets are showing their age but the bones are solid, a professional stain refresh is all it takes to bring them into today’s design landscape. Natural oak tones and warm wood finishes are among the most sought-after looks in kitchen design right now, and we can apply a custom stain that fits your vision perfectly.
Solid Color Cabinet Refinishing Not every homeowner wants to lean into natural wood. Many Winter Park clients prefer the clean, timeless appeal of a solid color finish — from crisp white and soft grey to deep navy, sage green, or bold black. Our solid color refinishing uses professional-grade products and techniques that deliver a smooth, durable finish far superior to anything achievable with standard paint. Whether your style is classic, contemporary, or somewhere in between, we’ll match the right color to your space.
New Cabinet Doors Sometimes a style refresh starts with the doors. If your cabinet boxes are structurally sound but the doors are worn or dated, new cabinet doors paired with a professional refinish deliver a dramatic transformation at a targeted price point.
Custom Glazing & Faux Grain For Winter Park homeowners who want a truly one-of-a-kind finish that complements the character of a historic or custom-built home, our custom glazing and faux grain services add depth and artistry that sets your kitchen apart.
The Smart Alternative to Full Cabinet Replacement
A full cabinet replacement in a Winter Park home — especially in an older, custom-built property — can be a complex and expensive undertaking, often running $20,000 to $50,000 or more. Resurrect Wood Refinishing delivers a showroom-quality transformation for roughly one-third of that cost, without the weeks of demolition and disruption that come with a full replacement. You keep the solid, often irreplaceable wood construction you already own and end up with a finish that feels completely new.
